Synopsis: This biographical courtroom drama is based on the true-life story of the Guildford Four. Gerry’s coerced confession to an IRA bombing he did not commit results in his imprisonment and that of his father. An English human rights lawyer fights to free them. The film received seven Academy Award nominations and has become a seminal film in the cinematic recounting of Ireland’s challenging history.

Director Jim Sheridan will join us for a Q&A. He will also discuss his newest film, made with Lise Hand, who also worked on In the Name of The Father. His new short film, 11th Hour, stars Salma Hayek and is set in New York on 9/11. This film was shot in two days this October (2016) at the Sir Colin Campbell, a stone’s throw from the Tricycle Cinema on Kilburn High Road.

This screening is part of the Irish Film London 1916 Commemorations Series, a cinematic journey charting the UK and Ireland’s relationship over the last century, through the eyes of filmmakers.
